Netminder Kevin St Pierre will return to the Nottingham Panthers for a second successive year after agreeing a new contract at the National Ice Centre. St Pierre, 35, helped Panthers to Challenge Cup success last season and a third-placed finish in the league. Coach Corey Neilson said: "I was tremendously impressed with how Kevin carried himself all season long." St Pierre added: "This is a great place to play. I'm very pleased to be asked to come back and play for this club." The French-Canadian became the first netminder for four years to stay with the club for the full season, following the early departures of Evan Lindsay, Rastislav Rovnianek and Davis Parley in previous campaigns.

Neilson added: "He worked very hard all year long and I think there's even more to come. "This was his first year of playing on the bigger ice surface, that makes a big difference to his angles and how he has to deal with the opposition's shooters. "He adjusted well and by the end of the season he was incredible for us. "He's so big and solid and the shooters around the league all told me he was as hard as anyone to play against, there was just no net left to shoot at when he got into position."
