Chelsea to sack Bosnich
The Australian had been suspended indefinitely by the club in November but on Tuesday he was given 14 days' formal notice in writing that his contract is to be terminated. A statement from the club said: "Chelsea Football Club can confirm that notice has been served on goalkeeper Mark Bosnich that his contract is being terminated under the terms of the FA Premier League. "We will be saying nothing else on the matter during this notice period."
It has been claimed that Bosnich's legal advisors have told him Chelsea could be acting improperly. But the club feel he has breached his contract after testing positive for the drug in 2002. Bosnich was called to a meeting with executives at Stamford Bridge shortly after Christmas but did not attend on medical advice. Meanwhile the 30-year-old has until Friday to submit a written reply to the Football Association misconduct charge which followed his positive test. It is thought that he intends to contest the charge at a hearing.
