Winger Medy Elito's season-long loan deal at Cheltenham has been cut short, with the 21-year-old set to return to Colchester United on Tuesday.
Elito has made just one start and one substitute appearance for the Robins since joining in February.
And after being left out of the squad for Saturday's 3-2 win over Bury, Cheltenham boss Mark Yates said Elito would be returning to Colchester.
"His loan spell will end Tuesday night," Yates told the club website.
"I have spoken with [U's boss] John Ward at length and it just hasn't worked for both parties but there are no hard feelings on our part."
Elito enjoyed a more productive loan spell at Whaddon Road last season, scoring three times in 12 starts.
The former England Under-19 international, whose contract expires in the summer, has featured 24 times for the U's since coming through the youth ranks.
