Colchester United midfielder Medy Elito has joined Dagenham & Redbridge on loan until 3 January.
The 20-year-old has made just one appearance for the U's this season, coming off the bench in August's League Cup defeat by Sunderland.
U's boss John Ward told BBC Essex: "Medy can benefit from that, he's been on the fringe a bit.
"It's good for Medy to go to a team in our league, I think that will test him out that little bit more."
The left-sided player finished the last campaign on loan at Cheltenham, where he scored three times in 12 games.
Elito will be able to play in cup competitions for the Daggers as he looks to regain match fitness.
Zaire-born Elito, who has represented England at under-17, under-18 and under-19 level, has made 24 appearances for the U's.
