Arsenal are sitting in 11th, which is a tricky spot to be in, now the pressure is on. You really have to start picking up points because as it stands now you could be facing a Real Madrid, Bayern Munich or a Wolfsburg type team in the next round, which is a big team to face.

But if you can pick up a few more points you could be in a much safer position and have the advantage going into that play-off phase.

Arsenal boss Renee Slegers admits her side have to start creating more chances as they gear up for a Women’s Champions League clash with Real Madrid.

The Gunners were held to a goalless Women’s Super League draw with north London rivals Tottenham on Sunday, which followed a 3-2 defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League last week, having led 2-0 at the break.

Slegers said: “We don’t deny it, we acknowledge it’s difficult. We also know the strength of the team. We know what we’re capable of and the strengths we have in the squad.

“Bayern was a good first half against a top opponent. Second half, we of course try to be critical of ourselves, we gave it away.

“A lot of games and a short turnaround into a north London derby. Compared to last year and how easy it was for us to score goals with the type of opportunities we created, that’s a little bit harder for us at the moment.”

This is the first of two matches today involving English sides with Arsenal in action later on tonight...

United went ahead through Fridolina Rolfo, but three errors, two from Safia Middleton-Patel and one from Julia Zigiotti Olme, saw the German side storm 3-1 ahead, only for Melvine Malard to pull one back in first-half injury-time.

That's exactly the response that United would have wanted to have. Malard with the ingenuity to just spin and lob it over the keeper Johannes, who gets fingertips on the ball but wasn't able to direct it away.

That is an absolutely sensational strike from Beerenstyn into the top corner. There's nothing Middleton-Patel could do about that one. Again [it comes from] a turnover in United's half.

That free-kick for United saw Julia Zigiotti Olme strike it well, but it was always straight at goalkeeper Stina Johannes, and she shows some good handling by catching it well.
