Caroline Mahlunga, 57, has been unemployed since 1995 and is constantly struggling to find a means to survive and avoid eviction.

She is dependent on her sick mother's pension of less than $120 a month, which stops whenever her mother goes to hospital.

"Life is so difficult now, it's not the same as previous years," she says. "It's hard because this place is our home, but there's nowhere we can go. This government does nothing."
