Schumacher voices F1 concerns
Schumacher says the new rules will not change much
Michael Schumacher has criticised the decision to outlaw electronic aids in Formula One.
The five-times world champion believes that banning traction and launch control during the season could make racing less safe, particularly in wet conditions. "The area where it will cause changes is with the young and inexperienced drivers," Schumacher said. "It will be more difficult for them in the future, and they will struggle more.
Traction control, which allows drivers to corner more easily, will be outlawed from the British Grand Prix in July along with automatic gearboxes. Motorsport bosses want launch control - which virtually guarantees a flawless start at the press of a button - to go at the same time. "I'm not a big fan of the rules coming in from Silverstone onwards," Schumacher added. "I like the electronic challenge because it allows you to get the car much closer to perfection and not have to make the compromises brought on by not using electronic systems. "I'm not going to look forward to it. But everybody has it, and I don't mind if we're racing the same."
