Norwich City reserves impress their boss Ian Crook

Norwich City reserves boss Ian Crook says Tuesday's performance against Colchester could earn some of his side a call-up to the first team.

The Canaries' second string drew 1-1 with Colchester's reserves at the club's Colney Training Centre.

"Michael Spillane was great and Jens [Berthal Askou] was better and Owain Tudur Jones has come back and done well," said Crook.

"They have given the gaffer [Paul Lambert] a nice headache."

Tudur Jones played for the first time since returning from a short loan spell with Yeovil Town.

The Canaries took the lead against the U's in the 21st minute when young striker Luke Daley scored on his return from injury.

They held the lead until two minutes from time when Colchester's leading scorer Kevin Lisbie levelled.

"The first half was like Play Station stuff at times," said Crook. "Some of the football was brilliant."

Crook also admitted that his side, made up mainly with academy scholars, will learn a lot from their draw with a strong Colchester team.

"The only fault was we didn't bury them when we had the chance. They were always going to come back with the side they had out."

The Canaries' first team face Yeovil in League One at the weekend (Saturday, 6 March, 1500 GMT).
