Oxford have completed the re-signing of veteran midfielder Chris Hargreaves until the end of the season after Torquay United agreed to release him.
The 37-year-old played 80 games for Oxford between 2005 and 2007 before moving to the Gulls.
Hargreaves signed a new one-year deal at Plainmoor last summer and has made 25 appearances for the League Two club this season, scoring three goals.
He could make his second U's debut at Chelmsford on Saturday.
His first season at Oxford ended with relegation to the Conference and his second in a play-off penalty shoot-out defeat by Exeter.
He told BBC Oxford: "The last two games in my last two seasons at this club hurt me. I'm not going to lie.
"But the last game of last season for Torquay didn't. That showed you can achieve big things in this game, and we can here, that's for sure."
