Oxford United's Jack Midson targets Wembley final

Midson is still eager for a run of games in the Oxford United first team

Oxford striker Jack Midson says the lure of a Wembley final means United will be treating their third-round tie in the FA Trophy with respect.

The U's are away at Blue Square South side Chelmsford on 30 Jan (1500GMT), and the striker says the competition has still has plenty of appeal.

"We are going to treat it very seriously, " Midson told BBC Oxford.

"The manager said you are only a few rounds from Wembley. If that isn't motivation I don't know what is."

He added: "I want that experience and hopefully we can share it together. Whoever is playing in the next few rounds I am sure we will work hard and hopefully we can get to Wembley."

The FA Trophy tie at the Essex side could present Midson an opportunity to face a former club if selected.

"When I was at Stevenage I went on loan at Chelmsford. I had a little stint there with Paul Parker. It went OK and helped prepare me for men's football, " said Midson.

"It will be tough. They have some very good players and drafted a fair amount in last year. It will be a difficult game for us."
