Northampton Town midfielder Ryan Gilligan has dedicated his midweek goal to caretaker manager Ian Sampson.
Gilligan scored his fourth goal of the season with the opener in the 3-1 win over Rotherham and hopes it will lead to Sampson getting the job permanently.
"I was more pleased for him than myself because I know how eager he is to get the job," the 22-year-old told BBC Radio Northampton.
"I think that if he gets the job he'll achieve great things here."
"I'm one of the longest serving players at the club and I've known Sammo now since I was a kid so it's nice obviously for him."
