Dartford need just 11 more points from their last eight games to be sure of winning the Ryman Premier League.
Elliot Bradbrook's late goal earned a 4-3 victory at home to Hastings.
"It was a good ball in and I managed to get a head to it," Bradbrook told BBC Radio Kent. "We're nearly at that line so every point makes a difference."
Fellow Ryman Premier promotion chasers Tonbridge Angels are in the play-off zone for the first time since September after a 2-0 win over Waltham Abbey.
Lee Minshull and Paul Booth scored the goals for the Angels, who were in the relegation zone as recently as last month.
Manager Tommy Warrilow said: "The last two games have been real battles. It's nice that we have the ugly side to us, as well as the pretty side."
"We're not in the play-offs yet. I'm trying to keep our feet on the ground. We're on a great run and I just want to stay in the play-offs now."
The race for play-off places in Blue Square South also has a healthy Kent interest, Dover having replaced Welling in the top five.
Dover beat St Albans 2-1, despite having Jon Wallis sent off, while Welling lost for just the second time in 16 games, 3-1 at Lewes.
Dover manager Andy Hessenthaler said: "We were not at the races first half, but we got a goal just before half-time, and second half we were very good."
Hessenthaler was also critical of the match officials, adding: "The less said about the referee the better today.
"He was very young, he looked like a school boy, and personally I think the game was too much for him. But we got what we deserved, that's the main thing."
Welling's Jamie Day still thinks they are in the running despite losing at Lewes.
"Lewes are struggling," he said. "We wanted to get three points, but it was never going to be easy.
"We've done reasonably well lately, we're around there and let's see how it goes."
"We didn't play very well at all today. It didn't help having Dean Cracknell sent off but they deserved to beat us.
Folkestone Invicta made the most of defeats for Ryman South's top two clubs by beating Fleet Town 2-0.
Brendon Cass and Darren Smith got the goals to put Folkestone second, even taking into account their 10-point deduction.
Sittingbourne are just two points off the play-offs after winning 2-1 at home to Worthing.
Tom Bradbrook, brother of Dartford's match-winner Elliot, scored twice.
Faversham's lead at the top of the Kent League has been cut to 10 points after Herne Bay hammered Sporting Bengal 9-0 with hat-tricks for Byron Walker and Michael Jenner.
Stansfeld are five points clear at the top of the Kent County league thanks to their 2-1 victory over Bly Spartans.
