Carlisle 3-2 Bury
Carlisle go through on the golden goal rule A last-gasp golden goal from Will McDonagh sent Carlisle into the Northern Final of the LDV Vans Trophy with a scorching 25-yard shot to prevent a penalty shoot-out and ensure a triumph. It was McDonagh who sent the game into the extra-time when he headed home Mark Birch's 86th-minute cross. Carlisle had taken the lead when Richie Foran, back from a four-match suspension, tucked a 20th-minute header past Bury keeper Glyn Garner, the ball taking a deflection off defender Steve Redmond. Bury had equalised on 61 minutes with a fierce volley from Terry Dunfield that sailed past keeper Matty Glennon and into the top corner. Ian Lawson had regained the lead for Bury eight minutes later, squeezing the ball between Glennon's legs. In a bad-tempered finale Bury's Chris Billy was sent off two minutes into time added on after being handed two bookings in as many minutes.
