Clare Taylor produced remarkable bowling figures as England's Women won a Test match on home soil for the first time since 1979.
Taylor claimed 3-5 from 13 overs as England completed a double success, having taken the one-day series 2-1.
Resuming on 67-3, South Africa had little but pride to play for, but Cri-Zelda Brits showed plenty of it, hitting 13 fours as she made 61 off 67 balls.
Her cavalier innings came to an end when she was caught by Isa Guha from the first ball of Taylor's afternoon spell - the 38-year-old having dismissed Claire Cowan and Johmari Logtenberg during the morning.
South African captain Alison Hodgkinson (37) added 47 with Charlize van der Westhuizen (22) before both fell in quick succession to Charlotte Edwards.

There was further resistance came from Brits and Yulandi van der Merwe, who shared a seventh wicket stand of 49 which came to an end when the latter was removed by Rosalie Birch for 22.
Guha dismissed Alicia Smith for 11 before the match ended in anti-climax when Nolababalu Ndzundzu retired hurt, denying England a chance to clim the final wicket.
