Matt Fitzpatrick has a greenside bunker right in front of him but he's going with the grain of the grass and there is plenty of release on that pitch which trundles across the green towards the pin.

The Englishman will have a putt from about six feet for a birdie and possibly the tournament.

While Ludvig Aberg and Tommy Fleetwood knock a few balls on the driving range in anticipation of a play-off there is a fair backlog on the 18th hole now.

Matt Fitzpatrick, who looks a little frustrated by hanging around to play his second lets up a huge shout of 'fore right' but I think he'll be fairly satisfied that he's still got a decent chance of going close from there.

Angel Ayora gets a generous hand from the crowd as he clips what looks to be a decent chip from the right of the dance floor on the 18th...

But his ball rolls on and on and straight off the green, down the slope into the water. A tough break for the Spaniard, who ends up with a bogey.

Tyrrell Hatton, the only man who could realistically prevent Rory McIlroy from securing the Race to Dubai crown has been all over the place here as well and ends up saving his par from four feet.

What. A. Shot.

Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen goes straight at the pin on the 17th and zips into around four feet.

This ought to be another birdie for the Dane. It is.

Rory McIlroy follows his lead with his six iron but that needed to land just another two or three yards further on to be perfect. Instead his ball trickles right off the slope to leave a birdie putt from 30 feet, straight up the hill.

It's a brilliant effort, that looks in all the way but his ball catches the back left lip and curls around the hole.

Tommy Fleetwood's eagle putt is tracking nicely across the 18th green but it stays out to the left and trundles perhaps four feet past the hole.

Laurie Canter up next. From around 25 feet to set the clubhouse target at -18... starts left, stays left. Eighteen inches left for par. But he's marking that one.

Back to Tommy... this to join Ludvig Aberg in sharing the clubhouse lead. Bosh. Super back nine by Fleetwood.

And Canter to tidy up... no bother.

Three in the hutch at -17 - Matt Fitzpatrick and Rory McIlroy look like the only ones who can go past them.

Matt Fitzpatrick finds the heart of the green on the par-three 17th but is then a little conservative with a putt from downtown.

That was never threatening the hole but equally it leaves a par putt from two feet that he strokes in.

Rory McIlroy clips 20 feet past on to the 16th green. That was a horrible chip and now he's a man under pressure with what feels like a must-make par putt.

He doesn't and all of a sudden he is off the top of the leaderboard.

Tommy Fleetwood has no real option but to go for the green and he is all in here. His ball soars towards the dancefloor and lands on it, rolling out to the back edge and he's probably got a 35-footer for eagle.

Laurie Cantlay follows Fleetwood onto the green. His ball runs out to the fringe but he's a few feet closer. Crucially, he's taken one more shot to get there, so his putt is for birdie.

A decent up and down from Ludvig Aberg ends with a birdie putt from four feet that he drains.

The Swede has set the clubhouse target.

A very scratchy hole from Justin Rose ends up with a double bogey. The Englishman went well right off the tee and never really recovered from there, playing his second from an awkward stance on the rocks by the water separating the fairway.

Back to Laurie Canter on the 18th and he's behind some trees with no clear path forward, so he takes his medicine and punches a low one on to the fairway.

He'll have 215 yards left to the pin from there.

Rory McIlroy finds the fairway bunker on the 16th and then punts his second right into the rough between a greenside bunker and the drink.

Messy.

"Fore left" is the cry from Laurie Canter on the 18th tee. Not sure he needed to shout. His ball goes way over the spectators down that side of the final hole. A nervy drive if ever you saw one.

Tommy Fleetwood finds the fairway and will now have the dilemma of chasing the green from 250 yards - a stream snakes its way down the middle of the fairway and is very much in play throughout.

How did that stay up? Matt Fitzpatrick has his hands on his knees as a 22-foot birdie putt stops maybe one ball revolution short of disappearing into the cup on the 17th green.

The 2022 US Open champion was expecting that to drop.

Justin Rose can't get up and down for par on the 17th and drops a shot.

That is surely that for the Englishman.

Ludvig Aberg does make his three and still in with an outside chance heading down the last.

Solid from Laurie Canter. He lags his birdie putt to 12 inches. A birdie down the last will make things even more interesting.

Tommy Fleetwood probably needs this to drop. It's a 30-footer though. Hasn't hit it. Again. Two putts. Par.

Close but no cigar for Rory on the 15th green.

The Northern Irishman is putting from over 30 feet but read this right-to-left effort really well even if it just stays right.

Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen picks up another birdie and all of a sudden the 24-year-old Dane is threatening the leaders again.

Tommy Fleetwood and Laurie Canter head to the par-three 17th with perhaps different thoughts in their heads.

Tommy needs to chase birdie, Canter might be happier to ensure nothing worse that par and take his chances down the par-five last.

Both end up on the green. Fleetwood looks like he'll have the more straightforward putt, with Canter having a ridge between his ball and the hole.
