Paul Hunter ended a brave challenge from Alan McManus to clinch a place in the final of the B&H Masters with a tense 6-5 victory.

Hunter had the better of the early exchanges before McManus rallied to open up a 4-2 advantage.

But his lead was short-lived as Hunter clawed back the next three with the help of a crucial ninth frame which he won on the colours.

Hunter breathed a sigh of relief as he clinched a place in the final after a tough battle with Alan Mcmanus.

"The match was a bit scrappy but you have to take your chances," said Hunter.

"I've been playing well all week but you can't play well all the time. I'm just happy to have got through because Alan is a good player.

"I played some sloppy shots during the match though I don't feel tired. I'll be okay for Sunday."

McManus felt he had missed a good chance to reach the final.

"When you feel that you could have won, you are going to be disappointed," said McManus.

"I had high hopes of winning the title again," added the 1994 winner, "but it just wasn't meant to be.

"But there's no point in mulling over it as there are worse things happening in the world.

"Paul deserved to win and good luck to him in the final."
