Great Britain's Emma Pooley fought off a bout of sickness to clinch the GP Suisse, a 23.4-kilometre time-trial race, on Friday. Riding for Cervelo, the Olympic time-trial silver medallist won from HTC-Columbia's Judith Arndt and Jeannie Longo, 51, of France. Pooley's fellow Briton Sharon Laws claimed fourth place. "I didn't want to start the race I felt so bad, I thought I was going to have a bad day," said Pooley. Her victory comes nine days after the 27-year-old triumphed ahead of Olympic road race gold medallist Nicole Cooke in the Fleche Wallonne race. All five of Cervelo's riders finished in the top 15 at the GP Suisse. "I felt really bad this morning, kind of shaky and normally I am not too nervous before a time-trial," added Pooley. "But sometimes it's worth trying. Overall I'm really pleased."
