Pitt tops Supersport leader board

Andrew Pitt
Pitt won the Supersport World Championship in 2001 and 2008

Andrew Pitt finished second in round two of the World Supersport Championships in Losail, Qatar on Saturday.

The result sees the Isle of Man based rider move above his Hannspree Ten Kate Honda team-mate Kenan Sofuoglu to lead the overall points standings.

Pitt was edged off the top step of the podium by Honda-mounted Eugene Laverty with Yamaha rider Cal Crutchlow third.

First round winner, Sofuoglu finished the 18 lap race in fourth.

"I gave everything I had during the race and, although I didn't win, at least we've bagged another 20 points." said Pitt.

The third round will take place in Valencia, Spain on 5 April.
