James Walker claimed two top 10 finishes at the weekend's World Series by Renault event at the Hungaroring.
The Jersey driver missed out on the Superpole session for the top 10 drivers in qualifying after clocking the 13th fastest time on Saturday.
But he drove strongly to end the first race in seventh place, earning him 12th place on the grid for Sunday's race.
He gained two places early before overtaking championship leader Giedo Van der Garde for 10th at the end.
It means he took five points from the weekend, moving him onto 17 for the season and up a place to 14th in the standings.
"Overall I am happy with the weekend's results although I was disappointed to just miss out on Superpole," said Walker.
"I love racing this car so I hope I can get a better result next time out. I outscored my team-mate though, so that's pretty positive."
His next race is at Germany's Nurburgring on 30-31 August.
