Park triumphs after thriller
Grace Park
Park took her first title of the season

South Korea's Grace Park needed four play-off holes to see off the challenge of home favourite Midori Yoneyama and capture the Cisco World Ladies Match Play Championship.

Park sank a 12-foot birdie putt on the par-four 13th at Narita Golf Club to wrap up the 22-hole marathon contest.

"I feel great," said Park as she celebrated her first title of the season..

"It's been a long year. I played solid every day except for the final round and couldn't be happier with the win."

Park's second shot on the second play-off hole landed in trees at the side of the green.

She settled for a bogey after a spectacular shot out of the woods and stayed alive when Yoneyama's two-foot par putt slid past the hole.

"I thought it was over then," said Park.

Carin Koch
Koch won the third place play-off

"I guess I was getting a little tired and it was fortunate when Midori missed that putt but that's the way it goes."

Yoneyama's approach on the par-four 18th had landed on the edge of the green, while Park's second shot found the short rough above the green.

But Yoneyama missed the chance to seal the win when her long birdie putt stopped an inch from the hole and the two players headed to the 10th for a play-off.

Yoneyama had reached the final with birdies on the last two holes to force a play-off against South Korea's Hee Won-Han.

She then sank a 20-foot birdie putt at the 10th to seal a 1-up victory.

Park had carded six birdies in 14 holes to defeat Sweden's Carin Koch 5 & 4 in the other semi-final.

Koch went on to record a 1-up victory over Hee to finish in third place.
