Torquay United boss Paul Buckle has said he is very happy with the progress made by his side this season.
The Gulls finished their League Two campaign 17th in the standings, having won five of their last six games, and scoring 14 goals in the process.
Buckle told BBC Devon: "At the start of the season we really did struggle in a lot of games.
"But we turned it around, played with real style, went at teams and we looked strong at the back."
The 2009/10 campaign was Torquay's first back in the Football League after two seasons in the Conference.
And Buckle acknowledged that the returning to the fourth tier of English football definitely took some getting used to.
"We really have made progress as a club," said Buckle. "It took a bit of time, but we have moved forward massively as a football club and it's fantastic to see."
After enjoying a unbeaten run-in at the end of the season, Buckle is now turning his attention to ensuring the Gulls will be even stronger come August.
"If you look at the balance of the squad we're short on numbers," he said.
"I won't overcrowd it, and I'm happy with what I've seen over the last two months, so we'll have to choose very carefully."
