Howland to stay with the Valiants

Port Vale

Midfielder David Howland has agreed a two-year deal with Port Vale following last season's loan spell.

The 21-year-old joins from Birmingham City, whom he joined as a trainee in 2005 but where he never made a first team appearance.

Manager Lee Sinnott told BBC Radio Stoke: "I'm delighted, he's a new signing that we know all about.

"We're getting the right blend of youth and experience and we will be looking for David to continue to improve."

Howland joined the Valiants in January and made 17 starts in a season that would eventually end in relegation.

He becomes Sinnott's fifth signing of the summer and follows the arrival of Sam Stockley this week.
