Cureton scored 14 goals for the Canaries last season
Barnsley have completed the signing of Norwich City striker Jamie Cureton on a three-month loan deal.
The 33-year-old has struggled to break into the first team at Carrow Road and is yet to score this season.
Reds manager Simon Davey told BBC Radio Sheffield he thinks it is a good signing for the club.
"Jamie is a player I have admired for a long time. He has a fantastic goalscoring record and I think he is another piece of our jigsaw," he said.
The Reds are already without Iain Hume, who has a fractured skull, leaving Davey short of options up front.
"It's a good acquisition for the group," said Davey. "We have lost Iain, and our thoughts are with him, but we have to ensure that we have the firepower to continue our run.

"He's a goalscorer - I am not saying that I don't have goalscorers at the club - but he is proven in the Championship, he's done it at this level for many years.
"I think that when he gets an opportunity more often than not it is in the back of the net.
"When I spoke to Jamie and his representatives there was no doubt in their mind that he was coming here. We wanted the player and we got him."
Cureton will go straight into the Reds' squad to face Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
