Warnock nets award
The Blades have climbed to third in the table
Sheffield United's cup exploits have helped manager Neil Warnock win the Nationwide Division One manager of the month award for January. The Blades won both of their league games during the month, beating leaders Portsmouth at Fratton Park before overcoming local rivals Sheffield Wednesday 3-1 at Bramall Lane.
Warnock's side also defeated Cheltenham and Ipswich in the FA Cup, while they narrowly lost out on aggregate to Liverpool in the Worthington Cup semi-final. Crewe boss Dario Gradi took the Division Two award after they won all four of their league fixtures to push them into the automatic promotion places.
Hartlepool's Mike Newell won the Division Three award. The Third Division leaders were unbeaten during January, winning four and drawing one of their five games.
Newell only replaced former boss Chris Turner last November, but has guided the side to an eight-point lead at the top. Halifax manager Chris Wilder won the Nationwide Conference award.
