Northants have re-signed Sri Lankan all-rounder Chaminda Vaas for all competitions for the 2011 season. Vaas played in just the T20 last season scoring 459 runs including four half-centuries, and also took 17 wickets. His best performance saw him hit 73 off 49 balls and then claim 3-23 in the win over Durham. Head coach David Capel said: "He made an excellent contribution and it'll be great to have his all-round services to call upon more regularly." Northants chief executive Mark Tagg believes Vaas will be an asset both on and off the field. "Experience and quality are essential elements of a successful team and Chaminda brings both in abundance," he said. "The younger players especially will get real value from Chaminda and the club will continue to move forward with him in the side."
