Derbyshire reveal double signing
Nayan Doshi and John Sadler
Doshi and Sadler both want regular first-team cricket
Derbyshire have begun strengthening their squad for next season by signing left-arm spinner Nayan Doshi and middle-order batsman John Sadler.

Doshi, 29, was released by Surrey in July after becoming frustrated by a lack of first-team opportunities.

He is the leading wicket-taker in Twenty20 cricket but struggled to win a place in other forms of the game.

Sadler is also hoping the move north will revive his career after a poor 2007 season for Leicestershire.

"They will be outstanding additions to our squad in terms of their ability on the field but also what they will add off it," said Head of Cricket John Morris.

"They have come to Derbyshire to have the opportunity to play in all forms of the game and be a part of what we are striving to achieve here - a side capable of competing with and beating the best.

"I am confident that Nayan and John, and the further signings we expect to make in the near future, will help us achieve that," he added.

Ireland World Cup star Boyd Rankin, meanwhile, has signed a two-year deal with Warwickshire after Derbyshire withdrew the offer of a new contract.

Chief executive Tom Sears told the club's website: "We cannot wait forever - we want players who are 100% committed and 100% certain they want to play for Derbyshire. This is obviously not the case."
