Jersey's Scott Clayton is through to both the singles and doubles finals at the European Tennis Association's under-16 event in Malta.

Clayton easily defeated Britain's Tom Colautti 6-3 6-3 in his semi-final.

The 15-year-old now faces Romanian Andrei Aureti, the number one seed and ranked 25th in Europe, in Friday's singles final.

In the doubles, Clayton and partner Tim McLarty of Great Britain face number one seeds Aureti and Vinti of Romania.

Clayton and McLarty beat the second seeds Perinti and Ricciardi from Italy 6-1 6-1 in their semi final.

Clayton's good form in Europe has had some positive benefits closer to home.

He has made it into the main draw of the 16 & Under Nottingham Grand Prix starting on Sunday.

The director of the Channel Island's Tennis Association Hugh Raymond said it was great news for Clayton.

"What a great thing for Scott just before Christmas, the Grand Prix in Nottingham is extremely competitive and a grade up from what he's been doing on the continent."

"It's been a great experience for Scott and just shows the calibre of tennis being played here in the Channel Islands.

Clayton's first match in Nottingham is against Adam Stevenson from Scotland on Sunday at 1030 GMT.
