Hayman was left disappointed by the manner of the Saracens defeat
Newcastle Falcons prop Carl Hayman admitted there has been soul searching from the team following last weekend's 44-14 Premiership defeat by Saracens.
Falcons welcome bottom-side Bristol to Kingston Park on Friday and the powerful Kiwi admitted restoring pride is his motivation for the game.
"As a team we think we're a lot better than what we showed on Sunday," he told BBC Radio Newcastle.
"It's something we have to put right and it's not reflective of progress."
Bristol and Newcastle are two sides tipped to struggle in the Premiership during 2008 but the 28-year-old is adamant the Falcons will avoid such a fate this term.
"There's still a few teams below us in the table at the moment, maybe if you asked me and we were bottom of the table with two rounds to go then I could have an answer.
"It's a chance for us to push up to the business end of the table and we've got to try to win all our games at home."
