Saracens put themselves in a good position to progress in the European Challenge Cup with a 19-6 quarter Final first leg win over French side Brive.
Sarries' only try at in a competitive game at Vicarage Road came through Paul Bailey, with Nicki Little converting.
Little also kicked three penalties and a drop goal. Brive points came from two Julienne Laharrague penalties.
Elsewhere, Sale came from 15-6 down at half-time to beat Agen 34-18 in their quarter-final first-leg.
Charlie Hodgson landed seven out of nine kicks and also set up tries for Magnus Lund and Mark Cueto at Edgeley Road.
The pair both benefitted from pinpoint Hodgson passes to go over and help the Sale cause.
