Steenson has scored 247 in 21 games for the Chiefs this season
Exeter Chiefs fly-half Gareth Steenson hopes he can make history by helping the men from Sandy Park win promotion to the Premiership for the first time.
The Chiefs meet Bristol over two legs in the play-off final, with the first on home turf on Wednesday.
Steenson told BBC Radio Devon: "There's a lot of pressure on us, but we have an opportunity to make history.
"This club's been trying to get into the Premiership for going on 10 years or so, so it's a massive game."
The Irish fly-half has been one of Exeter's standout performers during the current season, with a points tally of 247.
And the 26-year-old is all too aware that the Chiefs will have to be at their very best to come out on top against Bristol.
He added: "We'll just look to go out and get a performance in.
"I think if we perform the way we've been playing over the last few weeks we're going to be a a difficult side to beat.
"I'm just glad to be in the final," Steenson continued. "It didn't matter if it was Bristol or Pertemps Bees [Birmingham & Solihull] we just wanted to be part of the final occasion."
Exeter's passage to the final came courtesy of a 37-8 win at home over Bedford in the semi-finals of the play-offs.
