St Helens dismiss Anderson link
Chris Anderson
St Helens chairman Eamonn McManus says former Australia coach Chris Anderson will not be replacing Ian Millward.

Anderson, who left union side Newport Gwent Dragons in February, has been linked with Saints after Millward was dismissed for gross misconduct.

"Chris has not applied and I've not spoken to him. He is not a candidate," McManus told BBC Radio Five Live.

The club have also been linked with New Zealand coach Daniel Anderson, who is in the last year of his contract.

The 37-year-old, who succeeded Gary Freeman as Kiwi coach in March 2003, is set to step down after the Tri-Nations Series later this year.

New Zealand Rugby League chairman Selwyn Pearson has already stated that Anderson will be released from his contract should St Helens offer him the job.

Anderson is a former New Zealand Warriors coach and in 2002 guided them to the minor Premiership title and the Grand Final, only for his side to lose to the Sydney Roosters.
