Jason Bunyan's 14-point haul was not enough to secure victory for Stoke

Stoke Potters lost their grip on the M6 Trophy as the Birmingham Brummies completed a 105-78 aggregate victory at Loomer Road on Sunday. The Brummies won 51-42 in the second leg, which was put back 24 hours because of a waterlogged track. Stoke skipper Jason Bunyan scored 14 points but it was not enough to prevent a second defeat in two meetings. "Supporters have to understand that we were up against a very experienced side," said team manager Malcolm Vasey. "They are led by two very experienced international riders in Steve Johnston and Jason Lyons, but we can't hide behind the fact that we have to do better, and I'm sure that we will." Stoke start their Premier Trophy campaign away at Vasey's former club Scunthorpe on Friday.
