Birmingham will take a healthy 18-point advantage into the second leg of their M6 Trophy match against Stoke Potters after a 54-36 win at Perry Barr. The tie was evenly poised in the first 12 heats, before the home side ended with three consecutive 5-1 heat wins. Stoke promoter Dave Tattum said: "It was a close meeting until the final three heats and the final score didn't really do us any justice." The second leg of the tie takes place at Loomer Road on Saturday. Chris Kerr top-scored for Birmingham with 14 points, while Klaus Jakobsen picked up nine points for the Potters, who gave debuts to five riders on Wednesday.
