Guernsey touring car star Andy Priaulx insists his sport could not function without the dedication of volunteers.
The three times World Touring Car Champion has been promoting the BBC's 2009 Unsung Hero award.
Priaulx told BBC Guernsey: "We wouldn't have an event even at world championship level without the medics, marshalls and safety people."
The award looks to acknowledge all those people who give up their time to help make sport happen.
The search for the BBC's Sports Unsung Hero is taking place across the British Isles and will see winners named in all the BBC's 15 Nations and Regions.
An overall winner will be chosen on the BBC Sports Personality of the Year, which will be broadcast live from Sheffield on BBC ONE on 13 December.
