Woking have given caretaker manager Graham Baker the job on a permanent basis despite their relegation from the Blue Square Premier being confirmed.
The club's youth-team coach has seen the Cards take seven points from his five games so far.
He told BBC Surrey: "I'm privileged to take charge at this great club. If I didn't take it now, I'd probably look back and say 'what if?'.
"I back myself and believe in myself that I will be successful."

Baker already has an assistant in mind and will make contact shortly.
He said: "It will be somebody who has knowledge of the league we've just left, and the league we are going into [Blue Square South].
"All things have to suit that party, but that won't be a problem. There are lots of people who want to be number two at this great club."
Current club chairman David Taylor admits a number of names were discussed: "Several names were mentioned in the board meeting. There are lots of well-known high-profile managers out there.
"A lot of people have been saying [former Lewes and Northwich boss] Steve King has put himself forward. He's a personal friend of mine.
"I think other people have been putting him forward. I hope he gets a successful position somewhere."
