Assistant boss Peter Ward has admitted Stockport's financial situation is a major distraction for the management.
Midfielder Anthony Pilkington became the latest player, to Huddersfield, to leave as Ward and boss Jim Gannon try to keep their young squad together.
Ward told BBC Radio Manchester: "We are trying to do our own work and trying to plan things but you can't really.
"It's a major distraction. You think you're in the groove but a couple of weeks on and everything's on its head."
He added: "One minute you're in the top seven and things are looking up. You look at your squad and you think you're healthy and if you could add a couple more players you could be challenging for it.
"But then players are leaving and we just have to battle on as best we can."
