Portsmouth have completed the signing of Stoke defender Ibrahima Sonko on a season-long loan.
Pompey, currently subject to a transfer embargo, are now awaiting Football League approval for the deal.
Sonko, 29, has made just 17 appearances for Stoke since joining from Reading in September 2008.
Pompey boss Steve Cotterill told the club website: "He's been a bit unlucky during his time at Stoke. He just needs to get back playing."
He added: "He's a big, strong and very powerful defender. I've followed him for a while and I thought he did a fantastic job at Reading.
"The deal is done and we're just waiting for the OK from the Football League."
Senegal-born Sonko began his career at French club St Etienne, then played for Grenoble before joining Brentford in 2002.
He moved to Reading two years later and made 136 appearances for the Royals before his switch to Stoke.
