Bullard's transfer fee has cost Hull almost £180,000 per minute played
Hull City midfielder Jimmy Bullard could be back in action for the Premier League club by late September.
The Tigers' £5m record signing had knee ligament surgery early in the year after tearing ligaments just 28 minutes into his debut in January.
The 30-year-old told BBC Radio Humberside: "Every day I can feel it getting stronger and stronger. I've had no pain and no swelling.
"Every so often I try it and I feel confident, and that's a big thing."
He insists he will not rush his return: "In two or three weeks I'll try straight-line running, maybe sooner, I want to get back as soon as possible but I have to be sensible.
"I want to be right when I come back, hit the ground running and make a difference. I'm not going to be far away at the end of September, early October."
He's an old-fashioned centre-forward, he'd be a great asset for Hull City
Jimmy Bullard on Hull target Bobby Zamora
Meanwhile, Bullard would love to see his former Fulham team-mate Bobby Zamora join him at the KC Stadium.
Hull have made an offer for the striker but any move is dependent on Fulham signing a replacement.
"I enjoyed playing with Bobby," he said. "He's an old-fashioned centre-forward. He'd be a great asset for Hull City."
