Forest Green fans await Mangan return

Forest Green Supporters Trust member Tim Barnard will welcome forward Andy Mangan back with open arms when his five-month suspension comes to an end.

He was banned for betting on his club at the time Bury to beat Accrington.

Barnard told BBC Gloucestershire: "I think Jim Harvey is the best manager in the league to find the next Mangan.

"From a fans point of view Mangan is a fantastic player, and it would be great if when this is resolved he continued to play for the club."

Mangan will also have to pay a £2,000 fine for his actions leading up to the game, which Bury won 2-0.

Last season he scored 26 goals for Forest Green in the Blue Square Premier.

Barnard added: "At a recent fans' forum Harvey made the point that in his 12 years at Morecambe, whenever they sold a striker he was always asked who would score the goals.

"His answer was that another young player would step up to the mark, and I'm therefore confident that there is one in the pipeline somewhere."
