Tim Howard praises Everton 'warrior' Tim Cahill

Everton's Tim Howard says he is glad to have midfielder Tim Cahill in the Blues side rather than playing against him.

The Blues drew 2-2 at Aston Villa on Wednesday with Cahill scoring twice.

"He's one of those guys you'd hate to play against because he's just annoying but he's a brilliant team-mate," keeper Howard told BBC Radio Merseyside.

"You're excited when you walk out with you because he's a warrior and he keeps fighting and he keep scrapping. It's good to have him on your team."

Everton took the lead twice in the game at Villa Park, only to see a Phil Jagielka score an own goal in second-half stoppage time to level the scores.

Howard believes the draw at Villa Park does not help either side as they look to qualify for Europe next season.

We're a lot better than we've shown

"It's one of those games were you always say you don't think anyone is happy with a draw," Howard added. "Not them, not us or either set of fans.

"You go away from home and play like that and you deserve to win, it's disappointing.

"We're playing good, but we're a lot better than we've shown and we need to keep cracking on and push forward in the remaining four games left.

"There is a lot of things up for grabs, the Champions League places and Europa League places."

The Blues travel to Blackburn on Saturday as they look to better their record of only two defeats in 20 games, and the United States international says Ewood Park is tough on the players but great for the fans.

"We've got a few of those left and you can't say you're looking forward to going away from home," he continued. "It's going to be tough and we're going to have to dig in.

"It's one of the best places to play in terms of playing away because you get the whole of the back stand [for the away fans] and the Evertonians are unbelievable."
