Boss Johnson eyes more signings

Johnson had added four new players to his squad so far

Bristol City manager Gary Johnson plans to add further to his squad, after revealing the club has been knocked back in a bid for an unnamed target.

City are about to head to Portugal for a training camp buoyed by four new signings at Ashton Gate.

"There is one more bid out there but they've turned it down," Johnson told BBC Radio Bristol.

"We're waiting to make the next bid, but that won't be until we come back from Portugal."

Johnson had a meeting to discuss transfers with chairman Steve Lansdown on Monday and says he is always on the lookout for new players.

He added: "We looked at a couple of targets, and talked about lads that might be coming out of contract.

"We discuss all the time how we can further ourselves and as things pop up I ask him, and generally he's very keen to do what we're asking him to do."

Meanwhile, Johnson says he still expects Michael McIndoe to complete a move to Sheffield United. The winger will not be travelling with the City squad to Portugal.

"Most things have been agreed, certainly the fee with us has been agreed. Maybe they're waiting for someone to go but we'll have to wait and see how that develops," stated Johnson.
