Barrow striker Lee McEvilly says regaining his fitness during the pre-season is a priority if he is to remain at Holker Street in 2010-11.
McEvilly, 28, was a goalscorer in the club's 2-1 FA Trophy final defeat of Stevenage, but admitted his future is by no means certain at Barrow.
McEvilly told BBC Radio Cumbria: "I've got to work hard over the summer.
"I need to lose a stone and a half and then fingers crossed people might see the new Lee McEvilly."
McEvilly's Wembley winner was his sole strike for the Bluebirds during his short-term spell at the club toward the end of last season - following a switch to the Blue Square Premier side from Marine in March of this year.
It was a move which polarised supporters given his condition and fitness on arrival, and the Northern Ireland international appreciated the faith of joint-bosses Dave Bayliss and Darren Sheridan in giving him a chance to shine.
"It's been a season I'd rather forget, although I wouldn't forget the last few weeks," McEvilly added.
"Prior to my loan move to Barrow the season before last I was playing with a broken leg, but I'm over that now.
"The fans were expecting this and expecting that, and the two people who have stuck by me are Dave and 'Shez.
"The goal was towards them, because fans had been on their back, saying my motivation had all gone, but I'd had a season to forget.
"The goal was a sign of what I can do."
Liverpool-born McEvilly, who has one cap for Northern Ireland, began his career with Burscough and has since enjoyed spells with Rochdale, Accrington Stanley, Wrexham and Cambridge.
