Corby Town bring in Gavin Hoyte and Neil Cartwright

Blue Square North

Corby Town have signed Gavin Hoyte and Neil Cartwright to complete their transfer activity this summer.

Hoyte, a 24-year-old defender, joins from relegated Blue Square Premier side Grays Athletic, having also played for Cambridge United and Weymouth.

Right-sided midfielder Cartwright becomes the sixth Hinckley signing for Corby boss Graham Drury.

"I'll narrow this 28-man squad down to 19, but it's looking strong," Drury told BBC Radio Northampton.

"Gavin is a big, stocky, strong player who likes to attack the ball," Drury added.

"I don't think he's reached his true potential, and there's more to come from him."

Former Telford player Cartwright made 398 starts for the Knitters, after beginning his career at Kidderminster.

"He can play in midfield or defence, so he's got a few strings to his bow.

"He's high energy, he can spot a pass, and he's a good addition," Drury said.

It's nothing against [Hinckley boss] Dean Thomas. He's a cracking manager

Graham Drury

"He was due for a testimonial with Hinckley but he's decided to join us. It's good that he sees us as an ambitious club."

Cartwright will be surrounded by familiar faces at Rockingham Triangle, as he joins former Hinckley colleagues Richard Lavery, Danny Pitham, Andy Hall, Andy Gooding and goalkeeper Chris MacKenzie.

"It's nothing against [Hinckley boss] Dean Thomas. He's a cracking manager and to lose six players must be hard for him.

"But they're good players and you have to put sentiment behind you. It's all about what's right for Corby Town."
