Sharp makes history in Devon-Cornwall draw

Cricket

Tom Sharp became the first Cornwall player to score 3,000 runs and take 150 wickets as their MCCA Championship clash with Devon ended in a draw.

After no play was possible on day two, further rain prevented Cornwall from resuming on 98-2 until after lunch.

Dan Davis (62) and Kelvin Snell (32) put on 149 for the third wicket before Cornwall crumbled to 213 all out, Sharp passing the milestone with 36 not out.

Devon, 92 ahead on first innings, had reached 129-3 when a halt was called.

Sharp was the 14th Cornish player to pass 3,000 runs, but the first to achieve the double mark with bat and ball.
