York Cricket Club travel to Barnsley on Saturday knowing that they could go top of the Yorkshire League table. After eight games so far this summer, eight points separate second-placed York from leaders Barnsley. York all-rounder Nick Kay told BBC Radio York: "For the last four years, every time we've played Barnsley it's been the biggest game of the season. "If we win we can go level on points and it will give us momentum going in to the second half of the season." Kay added: "It's a similar scenario to what happened last year. They started off very strongly, we closed the gap through the course of the season and then put some wins together." Elsewhere, fifth-placed Scarborough are at home to Rotherham, who are seventh. Scarborough captain Darren Harland said his side had made a 'hit and miss' start to the season.

"It's just been the runs that we've struggled with this year. "They're just below us in the table and they're a decent team. "They've got some good players in there but we're confident after winning last week that we can do the same again," Harland said. Harrogate, still bottom of the league, are at struggling Cleethorpes. And captain David Stiff believes his side could get their second win of the season. "I think they could be quite vulnerable so we'll be hoping to get some early wickets against them and really putting their weaker players under some pressure." Earlier this week the pavilion at Harrogate's ground was badly damaged by arson and Stiff admitted it had been a slight distraction for the team. "Having to get changed out of cars is not ideal," he said. "But, once we get out on the pitch, we put it to the back of our minds and don't let it affect too much."
