The Channel Islands men's athletics squad finished second in the British Athletics League in Glasgow. With just the home meeting in Guernsey to go, the Channel Islands stay second overall, and a similar result in Guernsey will see them promoted. Highlights in Glasgow included Lee Garland's win in the steeplechase and Zane Duchemin taking both the shot and discuss events. Ross Jeffs set a new Jersey age-group record in the long jump. Other personal bests included Matt Loveridge in the 800m, and Leo Rice in the pole vault, a new event for him. The icing on the cake for the Channel Island team was a quite superb win the 4 x 100m relay, beating the favourites for that event, Tower Hamlets. The final meeting in Guernsey is on Saturday, 20 August.
