Redding finished in sixth spot in Catalunya last time out
Scott Redding became the youngest-ever winner in any MotoGP class with a thrilling 125cc victory to delight the home fans at Donington.
The Gloucestershire 15-year-old took the lead with six laps remaining after pressuring Andrea Iannone into pushing too hard and going off at Craner Curve.
He held off Mike Di Meglio of France and Spaniard Marc Marquez to win in only his eighth 125cc outing.
Fellow Briton Bradley Smith, 17, came home in 10th place.
Showing a composure that belied his years, Redding saluted his Aprilia team as he crossed the line, before doing a lap of honour wrapped in a union flag.
The last British rider to win a 125cc race was Chaz Mortimer in the Spanish Grand Prix of 1973.
I wasn't allowed any champagne on the podium because I'm too young

Redding said: "It is unbelievable. I've never had a podium before and to win at my home grand prix is an incredible feeling.
"It was difficult conditions out there but I've always ridden well when it's been windy and the bike felt good.
"When Iannone crashed out I knew that I had the race won and just had to focus and bring it home.
"I'd only ever done three laps of Donington before and that was on an 80cc bike in the rain four years ago.

"But to win in front of the British fans is a dream come true. I wasn't allowed any champagne on the podium because I'm too young but luckily Mike gave me some of his.
"I should be back at school tomorrow but I am off to Assen for the next race, and hopefully I can get another podium soon."
