  1. 'We need to manage momentum swings better'published at 16:10 GMT

    FT: Scotland 56-0 Tonga

Scotland head coach Gregor Townsend tells BBC Scotland:

"We imposed our physicality on Tonga a lot throughout the game. We felt the pressure we were putting Tonga under, they would crack at some point in terms of the spaces would open up and our fitness would tell.

"We could have scored more point during that period but Tonga are a top team and you have to work hard for your points.

"The 20 minutes we had against Argentina is the negative throughout the four games, while it's only 20 minutes it's 20 minutes that cost us a game and that's what we have to get right.

"We need to manage those momentum swings better, that's a big learning from this campaign.

"The players like they did today are the ones that drive our performance and I'm so grateful work with this player group.

"The way the team is playing, I believe, is inspiring our supporters, putting top teams under pressure and it should have led to victories. It didn't and that's what we're trying to work on."

You can’t get excited about beating USA and Tonga. Give Townsend till after the six nations and if there’s still no improvement he’s got to go!

    Tobias

Sorry but Townsend gets no reprieve. Still has to go. A win over Tonga (no matter how emphatic) does not over shadow three years of standing still. His time is up before this generation disappears.

  4. 'Hardest week I've ever had as a Scotland player'published at 15:57 GMT

    Scotland 56-0 Tonga

Scotland Captain Sione Tuipilotu tells BBC Sport: "I thought at times the Tongan side made it really difficult for us. They were racing up out of the lines but I thought the work we did in the first 40 minutes paid dividends.

"We wanted to make sure the last 20 was the strongest part of the game.

"We knew this week wouldn't solve all our problems and the scoreline won't solve anything but the most important thing week is that we stuck together.

"This is the hardest week I've ever had as a Scotland player and no one is hurting more than the players."

I thought the bench would impact the game and they held their shape really well.

But, it is worrying that we go through long periods where we don't score or concede, we struggle to be dominant in the game.

Stop disrespecting Tonga; a good win to be celebrated

    Doneil

A game that essentially means nothing. Blew the two big games and won the 2 they should have won. Nothing gained from today barring filling coffers. Roll on URC next week.

  8. 'Plenty to build on'published at 15:45 GMT

    FT: Scotland 56-0 Tonga

Scotland's Zander Fagerson tells TNT Sports: "Lots of fun, it's been a long road, a long time out I'm just buzzing to be back on the pitch.

"There were a few tough conversations at the start of the week so it was all about coming here today and executing our gameplan.

"There's plenty of things to build on. Tough conversations and we know what our standards are.

"Chuffed today to get the win and we can build on that and take it into the Six Nations."

Scotland's Jamie Ritchie tells TNT Sports: "We knew the physical challenge that was facing us and we were talking about how we were going to react.

"It was a bit of a battle with ourselves to make sure we could come back and right a few wrongs.

"I was really proud of how we fought back. For us it's about trying to get better every week. We want to keep trying to improve."

  9. 'A good way to wrap up the series'published at 15:42 GMT

    FT: Scotland 56-0 Tonga

    Chris Paterson
Former Scotland international on BBC Scotland

Test match rugby is hard, it's brutal, you have to be on point.

Some quality individuals on both sides but I think Scotland handled it really well, even when the pressure came on.

There was a long period before Scotland got the scoreboard ticking over again. I thought the work they did in that period laid the platform for the sparkle to come later on.

Solid defensively, just kept fighting to win yards and the bench brought a tempo.

56 points with 14 changes is a good way to wrap up the series.

I'm not so sure that a win over Tonga makes up for the defeats by New Zealand and Argentina, to be honest.

  11. 'Important to right wrongs'published at 15:36 GMT

    FT: Scotland 56-0 Tonga

Player of the match Magnus Bradbury tells TNT Sports: "It was important.

"We chatted about what happened last week. There was a lot of rotation but we had to carry the responsibility of righting the wrongs."

A dominant rolling maul rumbles towards the Tonga line and Ewan Ashman stretches out to score.

George Horne does the rest off the tee.

  15. 'Brilliant score'published at 15:27 GMT

    Scotland 49-0 Tonga

    Chris Paterson

    Brilliant score, really good.

Tongans are tired, obviously they're tired with the amount of tackles they've had to make but Scotland had to work really hard.

They kept the composure but with a whole new tempo compared to that middle third of the game.

Right place, right time, George Horne.

Magnus Bradbury pops it up to the marauding Jamie Ritchie, who has Horne on his shoulder.

The replacement scrum-half goes under the posts for try number seven.

Over goes conversion number seven to boot.

George Horne is so underrated internationally: his reading of the game and support play is brilliant. Made the VDM try taking a big hit and knew where to be to make the support run for his try there.

The floodgates have opened at Murrayfield.

Scotland go wide to Kyle Steyn as huge pockets of space open up against a tiring Tonga side.

He in turn finds Kyle Rowe, who puts George Horne away to score.

Another successful conversion for Fergus Burke.
