If you or someone you know is affected by the issues raised in Panorama: Britain's Homecare Scandal, there is help available. What follows is a list of organisations available to assist or inform those who rely on carers.

Councils featured by Panorama:

South Lanarkshire Council:

The council is providing an advice line following the programme and contact can be made by telephoning 0800 6783282 or by emailing [email protected]

York Council:

The council is providing an emergency advice line for those directly affected by the companies featured in the programme. It is 0845 034 9417.

Hertfordshire County Council:

The council is providing an advice line following the programme, which is: 01438 737400. Those calling from area codes 01923/0208 should call 01923 471 400. Lines will be open from 0900 until 1300 on Saturday 11 April and then from Tuesday 14 April as normal.

Harrow Council:

The council has set-up a dedicated help-line that will open Friday 10 April. It will be open between 9am and 5pm on 0208 424 1352. The council's 24-hour emergency number is 0208 861 3242.

Other Help:

The Care Quality Commission is the independent regulator of health and social care in England.

The Care and Social Services Inspectorate Wales encourages the improvement of social care, early years and social services by regulating, inspecting and reviewing, and by providing professional advice to Ministers and policy makers.

The Scottish Commission for the Regulation of Care was set up to regulate all adult, child and independent healthcare services in Scotland.

The Regulation and Quality Improvement Authority is the independent health and social care regulatory body for Northern Ireland.

The Relatives and Residents Association exists to promote the wellbeing and to represent the interests of older people in care homes.

FirstStop is a free service that offers quality, independent advice on care, housing and finance options to older people, their families and carers. FirstStop is provided by three of the UK's leading charities - Age Concern and Help the Aged, Counsel and Care, and the Elderly Accommodation Counsel - as well as NHFA (one of the UK's leading specialist, independent financial advisors)

Counsel and Care is the national charity working with older people, their families and carers to get the best care and support.

Action on Elder Abuse works to protect, and prevent the abuse of vulnerable older adults.

The Patients Association is a national charity providing patients with an opportunity to raise concerns and share experiences of healthcare.

Age Concern England and Help the Aged have joined together to form a single new charity dedicated to improving the lives of older people. They offer a number of free guides to finding care both in the home and in a residential setting.

Elderly Accommodation Counsel (EAC) aims to help older people make informed choices about meeting their housing and care needs.
