A lane was closed on the A14 in Suffolk after a pothole caused damage to several vehicles, police said.

Officers were called to the westbound carriageway between junction 46 (Beyton/Thurston) and junction 45 (Rougham), near the BP filling station at Battlies Green, at 07:30 GMT.

A Suffolk Police spokesperson said several vehicles had damaged tyres from the pothole and several lorries had had to stop in a layby.

National Highways said the lane would remain closed overnight while repair work took place.
